The world around us is changing fast. The Netherlands faces the constant challenge of maintaining its international competitiveness. On top of this, major societal challenges must be tackled: How can we stay healthy? How can we keep vitality in our ageing population? How can we make our mobility more sustainable and efficient? How can we maintain supplies of green energy and healthy food to meet the growing demand? These are the kinds of challenges that compel us to be creative and effective. Brainport, with Eindhoven at its heart, as one of the three cornerstones of the Dutch economy, along with Amsterdam Airport and Rotterdam Seaport, has a decisive role to play in tackling these challenges. As an innovative high-tech region, Brainport is a substantial contributor to national industrial export and is responsible for a quarter of all private investment in R&D. Brainport generates 37 per cent of all patents registered in the Netherlands each year. From renewable energy to safe mobility and smart remote care, we come up with solutions to worldwide problems in the areas of energy, mobility and health. As the high-tech engine of the Netherlands, Brainport boosts economic growth and helps make society more sustainable, healthy and safe.

The Permanent Future Lab Strijp-S will build bridges between the creative industry and high quality innovative technology. We want to challenge people to collaborate to new knowledge, new ideas and smart solutions for issues that matter. The Permanent Future Lab Strijp-S will be a platform for young ánd old people in the Brainport Region (Eindhoven Agglomeration).

Edutainment and user guides

Arduino

Product/Material What? How?
Arduino is an open-source physical computing platform based on a simple i/o board and a development environment that implements the Processing/Wiring language. Arduino can be used to develop stand-alone interactive objects or can be connected to software on your computer (e.g. Flash, Processing, MaxMSP). The open-source IDE can be downloaded for free (currently for Mac OS X, Windows, and Linux). (more...) Arduino-UNO user Guide

Raspberry Pi

Product/Material What? How?
The Raspberry Pi is a low cost, credit-card sized computer that plugs into a computer monitor or TV, and uses a standard keyboard and mouse. It is a capable little device that enables people of all ages to explore computing, and to learn how to program in languages like Scratch and Python.
