The Slack channel was created by the co-initiators behind Permanent Future Lab Vondel CS. Since June 2017 it is open for everyone. Since Slack is not an open chat by default, an open invite system was installed by [https://zeit.co/docs/getting-started/installing-now creating a now instance] with the [https://github.com/rauchg/slackin Slackin software] running on it.
